This painting is my most personal painting. It is part of a series exploring the feelings of living in active addiction. I was trying to capture a sense how it is to be treated as un-saveable. How over the course of an addicts life everyone who once cared for the addict is forced to give up on her.

The first and second pieces I painted in my series on addiction. Both are a representation of the same struggle. The addict knows steps he must take in order to recver, but his thoughts and intentions are corrupted by his disease. Despite knowing what he wants he is bound by his own rationalizations and cravings. He needs only to let loose of the ties he holds around his hands and reach up to remove the blindfold. His family and friends see these obsticles are self-imposed, but to the addict they feel unbreakable.

An homage to one of my favorite painters, this piece is based on Tamara de Lempicka's "Nude with Sailboat." I have transported her from her marine home to to an environment more like my own, the desert.

I was interested in creating a series of paintings that contained a sense of the place where I live and work, the Sonoran Desert. These four paintings of indiginous birds are the result. These paintings are available in several different formats: individual stetched canvases, paper prints, greeting cards or combined into a single large poster. I can customize the poster with an original pen and ink cartouche in the center square.

This is a very early piece, but I have included it here because of the significance it bears in my life. I painted this after my last relapse and left it on the doorstep of someone I had hurt and thought lost forever.
​
I am happy to say that after a lengthy separation, I was given another chance and now, over five years later, we are still together and engaged to be married. Our tree continues to bear fruit.
